How do boarding & day care services work?
During the initial service booking process, we will determine the time frame for when you will drop off and pick up your dog. For drop off, I'll ask that you message/email me when you've arrived, and I will come out to meet you and bring your dog in through my backyard as this is a more neutral area of my home for dogs to meet. After your dog has had some time to themselves in the yard to settle in, they will be greeted by my dogs and other dogs that may be in the home at that time. For pickup, I'll ask that you message/email me when you arrive and I'll bring your dog out to you. I prefer for clients to not come to the front door or knock/ring the doorbell as this can overstimulate other dogs that are in the home.
Meet & Greets
Meet and greets for boarding and day care services will occur either at a public place such as a park or at the client's home if preferred. I don't have meet and greets in my home as this can increase the stress and amount of new stimulation on your dog as well as on other dogs that may be in my home at that time. You can see photos of my backyard area at the bottom of this page, and I'm more than happy to send any photos/videos of areas of my home your dog will have access to as well.
Home Environment
I live in a single-family home with a large fenced-in backyard, photos of backyard area included below. The only people regularly in the home are myself and my wife. The home is within walking distance of two parks, so getting your pup's exercise and enrichment time will not be an issue. I have three small pups of my own that love meeting new friends and will be great companions to your pup during their stay. I also have a few cats in the home that mostly stay in a separate area that the dogs do not have access to, but they do occasionally join us outside.
I have a pet door installed on the sliding door that leads to my screened-in porch and fenced backyard so your pet can access the yard whenever they please. I also have escape-proofed the fence with metal barricades along the bottom to prevent any escape artist pups from digging under the fence. Additionally, I have a gate installed by my front door to prevent any pups from escaping while anyone is coming in or out of the home. You can see photos of these areas below.
The only off-limits area in my home is the lower level which is separated from the dogs by a gate. Unless otherwise instructed by you, your dog is welcome on any furniture they find comfortable including sleeping in our bed at night if that is your pet's preference.
Here are a few of our boarding and day care clients that we have been so lucky to love. 💚
Safety Practices During Services
I limit the amount of dogs in my home at one time so that when your pets are in my care, they will have my undivided attention and love to keep them as comfortable as possible for the duration of their stay.
I have an area that is separated by a gate so that dogs in my home for services have their own space during meal times to prevent any unwanted interractions.
We will supervise your dog throughout the duration of their stay as dogs are not left in the home alone during services.
Communication
I will send frequent messages, pictures, and videos to keep you updated on meal times, medications administered, and fun activities that your dog is participating in. As a pet lover myself, I know frequent communication and being able to see my babies via pictures and videos while I'm away from them are a great reassurance that they are doing well.
What to bring for boarding
The only required items to bring are your dog's food and any medications they'll need during their stay. Otherwise, you are welcome to bring any items that may increase your dog's comfort during their stay. Prior clients have brought beds, blankets, favorite toys, treats, food/water bowls, crates, and assisstive steps. Any items brought that are not currently in use will be kept in a separate area from the dogs to insure safe keeping.
